Citroen Incar navigation
I've tried to engage with TomTom but they say talk to Citroen. They say they don't know. The car allows the language of the dash system to be US English (no choice of UK English) but that causes the voice guidance to be in US English. I'd like to use one of the normal UK English voices that comes with normal TomTom devices or even upload one. Does anyone know how to change the voice? I've looked in the settings but there is no option.

you must ask your Citroën dealer. whether UK voice is available.

Tomtom provides. only cards a. Citroen

As I already said, I have asked Citroen. The in-car navigation is written by TomTom so someone in TomTom must know whether it's possible and how. I have posted on Citroen forum too.
At the moment I use Android Auto to provide navigation as we don't like the US voice so the in-car navigation is a waste.

@Willy875

In this case, it is not true that TomTom provides only the maps:

"The new Citroën C5 X is the first Citroën model equipped with TomTom’s latest full-stack navigation solution. As the result of a deal announced in 2018, TomTom’s navigation software, maps and connected services will power Citroën’s all-new infotainment system – My Citroën Drive Plus."

However, it is possible that all updates are managed through Citroën.

@andy2022

Do you get your map updates from Citroën or TomTom?

Not clear: the navigation app updates the maps. I don't know whether that comes from Citroen or TomTom servers. Clearly they ultimately come from TomTom though. As you note, TomTom software powers the infotainment system so I'd have thought they would be interested in keeping customers onside. According to c5x forums, lots of UK c5x customers are unhappy that the infotainment system doesn't support UK English.

Interesting, and can probably answer that one with some help by you.

I assume by this you mean the head's navigation app, not some connectivity app on a phone.

How does the vehicle communicate with the outside world to get the maps? Does this generation also include cellular capability, or is it using WiFi to download the maps?

@andy2022

The map of the region you are in is constantly updated via WI-FI AND INTEGRATED CONNECTIVITY.

your Citroen dealer should also know how the equipment sold by them works?

It is the head's navigation app that does the update. The car communicates via mobile network to get updates.

The car has mobile connectivity to get updates. The Citroen dealer is doing their best at extracting support from Citroen UK but they are more set up to replace parts that go faulty, do recalls etc. I have also been in contact with Citroen UK and they don't know. As I have owned lot cheaper TomTom devices in the past where the voice can be changed to your liking and can even download celebrity voices, I am surprised that I can't do the same on TomTom's latest navigation platform.

Celebrity voices are no longer available on the online store, so Tomtom has stopped assigning them.

You can only have voices available.

There are no other voices available in the car's navigation app. It's stuck on a female US voice and there's no option in the navigation app's settings to change voice. I am surprised that there are no other voices available like there are on traditional TomTom devices.

You can bet at least one other voice is available if the TT equipped C5 X was sold in France!

Indeed! What's galling is that Citroen don't sell in the US so the only English offered should be UK.

It's a shame that the TomTom my drive app doesn't pair with the car too. That would make it easier to navigate.
Interestingly, the TomTom AmiGO app works with Android Auto so I am giving that a go instead of Google navigation. I can choose male or female UK English voices and US ones too.

That seems to be true. Had three major software updates during the car's first service - wish I hadn't. TomTom clock for arrival times is is about 15 hours out. Citroen are contacting TomTom. Any one else?

I did the update 2 days ago now my clock time is way out and no where to change in the settings. I have it set to auto update the time but that's not changing it 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔

You have to deselect automatic mode before changing it manually. Once done, you can reselect automatic mode.

One of the OTA updates added support for UK English. The entertainment system now refers to things in UK English (eg boot instead of trunk). And voice is now a UK English woman albeit with a patronising tone. Still prefer android auto maps.

I've now got English voice on sat nav. Think it's been added after latest update.
Still trying to get the correct time on sat nav destination time but not been successful yet
