I have a GO 5100 which I can connect to the laptop and the internet via MyDrive Connect. I can get to the Tomtom webpage and update it without problem.

After connecting the 5100 to the laptop I click on "My Drive- Plan routes and view traffic", then "My Places" and finally I click on "POI Files".

I can then add an ov2 POI files and it appears correctly on the list of POI files shown on the laptop screen. If I disconnect the satnav, close the program, re-open the program ans reconnect the satnav I can still see the new POI file in the list on the laptop screen.

So everything so far is OK.

If I disconnect the satnav and go to "My Places" and scroll down the list of third party POIs I cannot see this file in the list.

Why has the file not been transferred to the 5100? - or am I making some simple mistake (very likely!!!)

Try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds. See if they are listed then. Also you can seek advice from support:

Also, are you logged into MyDrive?

I will give them a call.

I called the number you gave me and spoke to a TT representative and he asked me to do the following.

1. Main menu
2, Tomtom Services
3. My Drive
4. Login (if not already in)
5. Main menu
6. My Places
7.Check to see if POI file was there (it was not)
8. Hold down on/off button until drum role is heard then release button
9 Repeat 5, 6 and 7 (this time the file was there).

So very similar to your advice but with a small addition.

So all is ready for my holiday holiday in Florida, starting this Thursday

Thank you once again.
