Traffic worked on the XXL550TM and VIA1535TM GPS devices before they were updated.

The displays on the XXL550TM and VIA1535TM show the RDS-TMC is connected.

The displays on the XXL550TM and VIA1535TM show they are searching for a radio station that carries RDS-TMC information.

The XL340.S was never updated.

The XL340.S displays a message "RDS-TMC information Your RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver cannot be used in combination with the current map."

Does anyone have any information on why this is happening? The traffic feature on the XXL550TM and VIA1535TM worked until recently.

I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM TOMTOM CONFIRMING THAT THEY DISABLE THE SAFETY CAMERA FEATURE ON DEVICES THEY NO LONGER SUPPORT WHEN THE DEVICES ARE CONNECTED TO TOMTOM HOME AND MYDRIVE CONNECT.

MY IMPRESSION IS THAT TOMTOM ALSO DISABLED THE TRAFFIC FEATURE.

THE GPS RUNS SLOWER THAN IT NORMALLY DOES IF YOU USE THE RDS-TMC CHARGER CABLE AS THE GPS CONTINUOUSLY SEARCHES FOR AND NEVER FINDS A STATION.

JUST GOT ANOTHER EMAIL FROM TOMTOM. INITIALLY I WAS SENT A LINK TO USE TO TROUBLESHOOT THE ISSUE. I REPLIED SAYING FLAT OUT TOMTOM KILLED THE FEATURES. THE SAME PERSON RESPONDED:

"Yes, most of the feature were stopped when the devices were termed end of life as supporting services was no longer possible and no further development could be done on them. Thus the services were stopped and we provided discount offers to upgrade to new devices few years back with updated hardware and software."

SO IF YOU NEVER UPDATED THE NAVCORE AND / OR RECENTLY DECIDED TO UPDATE A MAP ON AN OLD "TM" DEVICE YOU CAN SAY GOODBYE TO THE SERVICE FEATURES AS SOON AS YOU CONNECT, I.E. SAFETY CAMERAS AND TRAFFIC.
