TOMTOM XL and igo8 software

hello;
I bought tomtom XL and i have some questions
1. how can i backup the map before i install new maps?
(I have usa and canada maps and i would like to install europe maps)
2. Is there a way to install igo8 on tomtom xl
3. I am going on a trip to Isreal, where can i find maps for tomtom GPS

Just use Explorer, not Home, to back up the entire contents of the unit. Ensure hidden files/folders are showing. That will also back up the map folder with it.

IGo8 will not run on the TomTom.

While TeleAtlas, the company owned by TomTom and the provider of map data to TomTom does have coverage of Israel, it appears that TomTom itself has not made available any maps of the middle east countries for purchase.
