TOMTOM w Hands sreen as far as it goes when booting up

I have not used my tomtom in awhile and when I charged it and turned it on all I get is about 3 stages. The first small TomTom w hands screen, then a picture of what looks like a TV and you see what looks like a loading bar go across the bottom of the screen, then it goes to what looks like a black sun w rays coming up off of it and larger letters TOMTOM w the hands on the right side of it. That is as far as it goes. Nothing happens after that. Can someone please give me some advice. I have hit the reset button a couple of times but that does not seem to help. Your help is greatly appreciated.
