TomTom Via53 no longer syncs traffic information with phone

My TomTom Via53 no longer syncs traffic information with phone via bluetooth. It works when connected to home wifi. Both device and phone (Android) have the latest updates installed. The device shows it cannot connect to the phone for traffic information. My traffic subscription is current so I suspect a recent device update has caused the problem.

I would appreciate any advice on how to solve this problem.

Tom Tom have advised I do a factory reset. I would like to back up My Places before I reset, however there does not appear to be a process for backup with the VIA 53 which is very frustrating.
 
To save your places connected your GPS to your Mydrive account then you reset to factory settings
by leaking you will reconnect to your Mydrive account to reinstall your locations on your GPS.
 
I want to transfer the locations saved on the GPS in My Places to Mydrive. Is this possible?
