Start 52
The speed display on my Start 52 from time to time shows sudden increases in speed followed by a return to the correct speed a few seconds later although I am travelling at a steady speed. For example: a steady 40mph displays then suddenly jumps to 48mph before dropping back to 40mph.

Could this be caused by signal interference from buildings/trees or is it likely that there is a fault in the SatNav?

Welcome to TomTomForums

I have not heard about that problem.
To eliminate the possible problem with Satellites let's make sure you made a recent QuickGPSfix update with MyDrive Connect.

Hi Arno - there are no QuickGPSfix updates on offer on MyDrive Connect, and I have just updated my maps and speed cameras.

It has been suggested that the heating elements in my heated windscreen might interfere with the GPS signals - but as this has only started happening recently and the heated screen is turned off, I doubt this is a cause.

Speed is indeed calculated from a smoothed average of position change over.a relatively short time period. What I'd be interested to know is whether the chevron that indicates your map position bounces around any when this occurs. I would expect that if the error lasts for more than a couple of seconds, that both the speed calculation AND position calculation should act oddly and in sync with one another.

I didn't notice the chevron jumping around as I was passing through areas with lots of speed cameras and speed limits which varied between 60 and 20mph, so was concentrating on that. Next time I'll watch both and let you know.
