I have the map update service but get this error when trying to install new maps.

From the obtuse error message, it appears the downloaded 850 map may have been corrupt.

Were you using a wireless computer for the dl? If so, use a directly connected computer and try again.

Before doing so, you just may want to give this a shot........

1. Make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents.
2. Look for the downloaded cab file here:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\maps\

and look at the instructions here:
https://www.tomtomforums.com/genera...nstall-downloaded-map-without-using-home.html

Similar happened to me last week .. after getting numerous requests to connect to computer and update, I did a couple days before driving to Nashville Tn from North Carolina for big meeting. Used the usb cale, connected to deskbox, it's a ethernet direct connect to ATT DSL gateway. It downloaded the latest maps and afterwards the message was that it was unable to use these US & Canada maps on this TomTomOne device.

I orig bought this device for the US & Canada mapping. I also paid for the maps upgrades.

Now when I turn on my device the message reads "No Maps Found!" To make matters worse, after the big update, I did a backup to my computer so it wiped out my computer maps also!

I was not a happy camper driving blind with no TomTomGps! No help or support from TomTom!

What is my next move?

.. can't be used on device ..

Call support at 866-486-6866

You suggested I call Tech Service .. they tried but we got no where .. I just tried deleting the USA_and_Canada map for which I get the message .. it can't be used on this device! ..

I got a new message .. referring to the USA & Canada map. which I was deleting ..
"This item cannot be used on this device because it needs to be activated first" ..

interesting .. does that "Activated" mean something we've been overlooking?

Just to be clear.

Have you downloaded a new map using Home and, if so, is it here:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\maps\

Since my last post.. I had two U&C maps on my computer, probably after backing up .. the map that I installed the last time gave me the message .. can't be used on this device.. I deleted that one on my device and got the message .. "This item can't be on this device because it needs to be activated"?? Strange Msg..

I tried to load the map from my computer but I got the message that the map was on my device .. but it wasn't..

I called Tech .. he had me load the map using traffic camera .. that way I could pick the map file to load .. it worked slick! Problem solved, my device is back working like it should have before.

Traffic Cam was the trick!

Thanks for your help..

No Maps found after update.

This is what the lady from the support desk help me do and it worked for me.

Click on 'My Computer'
Right click on your tomtom drive.
Goto 'tools'.
Got to 'error check'.
Make sure both boxes are checked.
Click 'Scan'.

When done scanning, completely uninstall the tomtom application and all from your computer.
If you need help, click on this to show you...
How do I uninstall TomTom HOME?

Afterwards, reinstall the application, go to updates and let it run...it should be fine after that...if not...call tomtom. :)

Hope this helps:)
Nancy

]My last post above took care of the problem .. after I deleted the map on my device .. and using traffic camera .. drilling down to last page, I was able to pick the map to reload .. it has worked great after that ..

Thanks for all the good help.
