tomtom 825 go live switches off and on repeatedly

It was working fine on holiday used every day drove n=back 150 miles no problem then went to use it the following day
and it starts up then switches off after about 5 minutes and repeats this constantly.I have checked connections
done a reset with 30 seconds on power switch connected to the computer until the info screen comes on tapped three times
the gears come up and turn on the screen all seems ok after restart after 5 minutes and then after turning on switches off again.
Any suggestions ?

Hi thanks for the response and yes it shows 99% 3960mv on the status screen
there is one point which I dont understand its just that on the status screen it shows the SD card as 0 kb
capacity when the card I have inserted (assuming that the card its referring to) is an 8gb type capacity which
has been in there for over a year when I ran out of storage ?.

Need some clarification. The device goes into a countdown shutdown periodically, then pops back to life by itself, or must it be manually restarted? Or does it not perform the countdown style shutdown at all? Or? Please, a few additional details.

The device runs as per normal and one would start to think that all is well -live data traffic runs as normal and it states "turned onto London time" all is reinstated for a few minutes then suddenly the screen goes blank
and remains that way for a minute or two and then self reboots with the logo coming back on the left hand side -then reestablishes the information and keeps the journey chosen so nothing is lost and stays ok for up to 5 or 6 minutes and then the procedure is repeated again - blank screen lost coms. and over and over it repeats sometimes in just a minute without having time to properly re-establish the whole settings
when plugged into the computer as thats where I have been testing it it starts the home screen back up again so it has communication with the computer but may not stay live long enough for the the home screen to formulate.
The data screen also shows the 99% charge but shows the sd card as 0% capacity with an 8gb micro card installed ? if thats what that is referring to ,I have removed and tried cleaniing the cards
contacts with no effect 0tried it with it out and it still states the same overall capacity with no change ?

What capacity on the uSD card does MyDrive show?

If you don't need it to hold any current map, I'd pull the uSD card while you're working this out.
I know it's a PITA, but have you performed a Factory Reset on the unit yet? This will kill all of your personal settings, but does have some chance for improving things. If not, we have one slightly more drastic step we can take.
