Hello,

My girlfriend's father, bought this second hand GPS ( GO 730 ), and asked me to update it, and so I did using HOME, however the new acquired maps.. didn't work, they said it didn't work on this GPS, well so I restored the backup I did, however It kept saying the same thing, so I formatted, and now, the maps are gone, and I made the mistake of also deleting the backup I had ( I thought that formatting would give me the maps.. but no.. it gave me everything but the maps), now I'm pretty stressed, because I don't to tell the father of my girlfriend that I completely destroyed his *new* GPS..

Is there anyway that someone gives me the default Europe maps for GO 730? would that even work?

Thank you for your time,
A man in stress, António Ferreira

Connected to HOME check what it for what items are on your device and what items are on your computer, similar to:

Do you have the eMail address and password that was used the last time the device was updated?
If yes, and candeson sees this thread you may be OK.

Please be aware that the owners device is about 10 years old and if its memory is 2GB it is an End-of-Life device.
You then could legitimately tell her father that it died when you tried to upgrade it and show him this list

i used My own email to update it, So I do have the email and password when it was last updated,

Yeah I'm aware that it must be older than 10 years, although it has a memory card, it has like 16GB in total.

Well, I really could because that was what happened, but I feel really bad, he is a really strict and I dont want to let him down.

Thanks for all your help

If you have a memory card and, without HOME connect to the PC the internal and the card should be shown as external drives. I don't think but am not sure the internal should be less than 4GB.
Wait a minute, again I am not sure but I think the 730 uses a straight SDHC card, not a micro SD card. I was looking for a straight 16GB SDHC card for my 930 but could not find one.

If I remember rightly, the download of a map is tied in to the original eMail address or a different one, if registered with TomTom Support.
Normally it is possible to download the last paid for map again by logging in to Support with the credentials used.

So, I would have to ask for the original email from the person that my girlfriends father bought the GPS? That's going to be a stretch, but I'll try.

Tank you.

Sorry, but I have no words of encouragement now.

That's okay, I believe you did everything you could, thank you for that, I was just hoping for someone to have the default maps, but it's a old system, guess it was a long shot.

The only default map, I think, is the one that was flashed onto the device when new.
TT used to have LMG, Latest Map Guarantee. When I bought my 903 in the spring of 2008, almost immediately after connecting I was offered a newer map.
