Speed warning

I have a tomtom 1 3rd edition, and one of the setup options is to warn when exceeding the speed limit. I cannot seem to get this to work, no matter how fast I drive on any kind of road (highway, residential street, etc)

Any thoughts about what I am doing wrong?

In order for the speed warnings to work, the downloaded map has to have the speed limit for that road/highway preprogrammed into it. Unfortunately, the maps on the TT1 don't have many, if any at all, that have been preprogrammed. My understanding is that it is more functional overseas, outside of the US. However, you should be able to get the warning to sound if you travel faster than a speed limit you preselect into the TT1.

Yea, mine only seems to work at the "max speed" setting.

I have mine set for 74 MPH. (In NJ).

Honestly, it does make me think twice and slow down..

I'm starting to wonder if I should have bought a Garmin 330. Seems it has a lot more little features than the TomTom does.
