Hi, I am looking to replace my very old and out of date device.
I would like the added feature of the TomTom alerting me when I am exceeding the speed limit on any given road.
What version (if any) has this feature that can give me an audible alert?
Also, I don't want to always set a route (just leave it switched on) but would still like it to monitor progress and alert of speeding and cameras.
I have been looking at the TomTom GO 520.
    Many Thanks
    Neil

    Welcome to TomTomForums, Neil.

The 520 will give you all of that and more.

Thanks, for the quick reply. One last question, can I simply turn it on and not set a route for it to still function? I think that my current TomTom (very old) requires me to plan a route before it will do anything.

At Menu > Settings > Sounds & Warnings you can select from
'Always' , 'Only when speeding' and 'Never' for a large variety of scenarios.
    Fixed speed camera locations.
     Mobile speed camera locations.
     Mobile speed camera hotspots.
     Average speed camera locations.
     Speed enforcement zones.
     Red light camera locations.
     Traffic restriction cameras.

In a word, yes. Cameras and speed warnings will occur even with no route set. But without a route, you will sometimes be warned of cameras nearby that are not on the route that you are actually driving since the device doesn't know where you might be going.
