Hello everyone! I have an RDS-TMC receiver cable for my TT 520,620 devices. When I connect it to them, it says connected on the display. If I connect it to my Pro 5350, it doesn't say anything, it's probably not compatible. According to them, there is no compatible RDS-TMC cable for this device?

Hi

You can only use the RDS-TMC service in the region in which you purchased your device.

RDS-TMC service is available in the following regions:

Europe
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
Australia and New Zealand
North America
United States and Canada (select regions only)

There has been no RDS-TMC service in Hungary for some time, but the other two devices recognize the cable when I plug it in, because it says "RDS-TMC receiver connected"! Only the 5350 doesn't print anything, so I don't think it's suitable. Live TMC is only available with a Webfleet subscription! This is sad for me! When I bought it and it was not used yet, the two small car TMC icons appeared in the upper right corner, but when I updated the software and the map with an SD card, it no longer appears/and the startup logo became Webflett/!

I mean online TMC, you need a Webfleet subscription for that!

These are the Tomtom live services which require a subscription.

TMC does not require a subscription.

The Tomtom live service is RDS.TMC it is not the same thing

This is stated in the Hungarian description.

"Ahhoz, hogy a TomTom szolgáltatásokat használni tudja TomTom PRO 7350/5350 eszközén, először
csatlakoztatnia kell a járművezetői terminált.
Megjegyzés: A WEBFLEET-kapcsolatot használó TomTom PRO 7350/5350 termékeknek a TomTom
szolgáltatások eléréséhez a LIVE szolgáltatásokat támogató előfizetésre van szükség."

"Az RDS-TMC-ről
A forgalmi üzenetcsatorna (Traffic Message Channel, TMC), más néven RDS-TMC, rádiójelként továbbít
forgalmi adatokat és számos országban ingyenesen elérhető.
A TMC nem TomTom szolgáltatás, de a TomTom RDS-TMC forgalmi jelvevő használata esetén rendelkezésre áll."

So it doesn't recognize my RDS-TMC cable, I don't have a Webfleet subscription, so I'm left without TMC 😒

Let's try again.

RDS-TMC does not require a subscription, but does require a compatible cable. Not all devices have RDS capable code, so some also have no cable.

There is no such thing as "online TMC" or "live TMC". Please do not confuse "TMC" with "traffic". There THREE ways that TomTom supplies traffic to its various devices.

"Live" TomTom services are supplied over the internet, and is not called RDS-TMC. RDS-TMC traffic is piggybacked on FM radio station signals which is what the cable accessory receives. Live traffic requires an internet connection to the device, typically from a phone, but using a built-in cellular/SIM on some models.

RDS-TMC is a much poorer alternative since it covers many less roads and with far less precision for the ones it does cover. That's because the amount of data available in RDS-TMC messages is very small.

Thank you very much for the exhaustive answer, so I understand everything now! The Pro 5350 does not have a code, so it does not recognize the cable receiver, it cannot be paired with a smartphone only for hands-free operation, live traffic requires a Webfleet subscription! Best regards!

Yes, it is possible to connect the 5350 for 'Live' traffic via WiFi hotspot on your phone, or Bluetooth 'hotspot' on your phone if you have a traffic subscription from Webfleet.

The only 'free' service is lifetime map updates. The traffic was 'free' only for the first year for a 5350.
