XXL 540
I know my XXL 540 is obsolete and no longer "supported". With that said, the maps still update and it serves my purpose just fine so I still use it. However, about a month or so ago, the RDS-TMC stopped retrieving traffic data. It shows as being connected but the little icon just spins and it never connects to retrieve the data. I live in a large city so I know the signal is out there. TomTom support suggested I try a different RDS-TMC cord. I bought a brand new cord and nothing changed. They now want me to do a factory reset of my unit. I'm a little hesitant to do that but I thought I would check on here first to see if anyone has had the same issue and found a fix.

Thanks...

I think radio stations are shutting down TMC all over.
Here in Toronto on the 401, busiest highway in North America, I have not gotten it for 2 years.
It is dying, Wikipedia on TMC for the US talks about TomTom GO 720/920. Those are 2007 items!
Call a radio station in St Louis and see if you can find out about regional coverage.

Are you using HOME or MyDrive Connect to update your device?

I’m using Home. I actually wondered if that signal was still being broadcast as I’m sure it’s considered old technology. I tried to find more info on that subject on the web but couldn’t find anything current. Guess that should have been my clue. Not sure why TT support couldn’t have said the same thing. Thanks for your response...

OK, did you ever make a complete direct backup from your device to a folder on your PC?
I don't mean with Home.

If you POIs are saved the only thing you lose in a factory reset is your Favorites (recent destination, etc.) plus all the changed settings you made. In my case, amongst others, it is that I keep daylight for 24 hours and keep Toll roads disabled.

... and if you also save your mapsettings.cfg file, you'll have your favorites and recent destinations, too. Of course, you'll need a recent copy, Found in the folder with the big North_America map files.

I still use the RDS-TMC charger receiver with my start 25 and it works great and connects in a few seconds so the signal is still out there!

Amazing that it s still around.
Might as well keep doing it since they still use RDS for all of the FM station info there, too.
