POIs slow down my treo 700wx

How do I avoid a slow down on my ToM Tom after adding POIs? The more i add the more it slows down.

By default when you add POI's they are displayed on the map. You can disable that by going into the change preferences and show poi on map, uncheck the POI's that you don't want to display.

Thanks I'll try that again. I tried it before and it seemed to be the same. I may not have disabled enough of them.
