Go 620
Just loaded MyDrive to my phone to improve the usefulness of my GO 620. Had hoped to find my POI files when I selected MyPlaces on the phone, but they are not there, only directly on the device. Is there anyway I can get my POI files on my phone?

Later ..... Just noticed that Favourites from MyPlaces are shown in MyDrive on the phone, but not the POI files.I can also remove a 'Favourite' from MyPlaces using the phone! So there is connectivity, but POI files are not visible.

Later Still....... I further notice that Recent Destinations do not show in MyPlaces on the phone app. Looks to me like MyPlaces is missing a couple of tabs!

Any one have any ideas please??

Welcome to TomTomForums.

Click on POI FILES to the right of 'Favourites" and you will see all categories that are on your device.
At the bottom there is shows 'Import POI File'. To add a new one, click on that and pick any .ov2 file on your PC.
It will be there at the bottom and synced to your device next time you power up within your PC's WiFi range.

Hi Arno,
Favourites and POI files appear in MyDrive on the PC and in MyPlaces on the GO620 but POIs do not show on the phone app. In fact there is only one page under MyPlaces on the phone app, and as I added in my updated question, the phone app is also missing a Recent Destinations page!!

I may be corrected, as I do not use it except for testing, but I don't think either of those ever worked in MDA.

You could give the a try, it works for me but for most it does not.
I prefer to work with the folder tree on the PC as it gives me a better visual than the small screen.
If any of the folders are not on your phone make them with proper nesting.

This PC > [%phone] > SD card > Android > data > com.tomtom.gplay.navapp + > files > pois > ov2icons > mdpi

This PC >
%phone = folder name of your cell phone
SD card >
Android >
data >
com.tomtom.gplay.navapp + = do not use + but complete the line if there is additional information
files [make folder if not exist]
pois = make folder and put in your POI files, complete with .ov2 extensions (mine were made for the GO 930)
ov2icons = make folder
mdpi = put your matching ov2 icons in here with png extensions

Don't be discouraged if it doesn't work as so far only a very few succeeded even though their entries are the same as mine.

@Arno
On 'another' device, the file structure would use a folder called "locations" instead of "pois". That might be worth trying as well.

For what it's worth, I just updated to 1.7, and custom POIs still don't appear in the displayable "Points of interest" list, using either of the file structures noted above, and regardless of whether the added structure is added to the sd card or the internal version on the phone.

Based upon some earlier reports, I even tried reverting back to a very old beta structure of a files within files folder setup (internal storage/Android/data/com.tomtom.gplaybeta.navapp/files/files/pois/ and /locations/) and no luck that way, either.

It's a real mystery.

It was Bill Conant who found out about this before kumo joined 3 years ago. I seem to have been the only one who had got is to work then. At that time they had to be in hdpi.
kumo got it to work several weeks ago a I gave it another stab. As for the first time I put my 4 previous ones in both, hdpi and mdpi.
When I tried to add TimHortons as a new category, it showed up in My Places and the list would open in search but no icons on the map

Yes, that stands for Medium and High DPI. Since that is how I had it structured on Bridge, I had done the same for the app, but again, no joy. It really is a mystery.
