TomTom Model(s)
Go essential
I have read some ware that I need to take out two parts from my drive program but I cant remember what parts they are from my laptop can anybody help please.

There are two MyDrive programs. MyDrive Route Planner (web) and MyDrive App (cell phone).
I presume you are asking about the latter, which needs to be paired with your device.
Wi-Fi: Menu > Wi-Fi > (select your modem) > Connected (if not, repeat pairing)
Bluetooth: Download and install MDA and log in with Username and Password of your GO Essential.
Menu > Bluetooth > tap and follow instructions. (It may request to delete and install the phone connection again.

Thanks for the info but it's my drive program on my laptop that is faulty
Some one told me two parts of it are corrupt but I cant find the info now so I have sent it off to be repaired.

That doesn't make sense to me What happens if you enter https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb in the search field of your browser on your laptop. When it opens, log in with Username and Password of your GO Essential.

Two parts of what are corrupt? Your laptop? Your browser?
Nothing to do with TomTom.

Did Some one quote you a price for repairing?
Unless there is a known problem with your laptop I find that statement rather suspect.

I was told my drive program on my laptop had two faults in the program and I needed to remove them so I could reconnect my tomtom to my laptop to clear the fault on my tomtom.

Have to say, that diagnostic, as presented, sounds entirely bogus.
Worst case, you could delete the program from your laptop and reinstall it yourself.
PLEASE - do ask for a bit more detail. What 'two faults' was MyDrive supposed to have had?
Depending upon the answer to that question, we can advise as to whether you're being treated properly by "some one" or not.

Are you using Windows or Apple on your Laptop?
Which Browser do you use to access the Internet?
Do you use a new browser for each program or are you using tabs?

Your statement 1: "I was told my drive program on my laptop had two faults in the program".
Easily corrected. Delete current Window or tab. Open new Window or tab and enter https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb in the address bar/command line. You can double click on this link and Windows will open it for you.
When asked, allow them to take note of your location and enter your User name and Password from your GO Essential.
If your laptop is not WiFi capable, you must go to the TomTom web site and install a program called MyDrive Connect and connect your device via the included USB cable.
The MyDrive Connect program on your laptop will show what is installed on your TomTom and will allow you update the device and install additional maps.
If your laptop has Wifi you do not have to have MDC but it is good to check what is installed on your TomTom.

Your statement 2: "... so I could reconnect my tomtom to my laptop to clear the fault on my tomtom."
If there is a fault on your TomTom you have two options to reset.
Soft reset which keeps all your information and can easily invoked by keeping the finger on the power button at start up until you hear the drums (tom toms !), let go and it will start the same as if you plugged it in.
The other is a Factory Reset, putting your device into the state it was when first unpacked. This will erase all Favouties, Recent Destinations, saved routes and should only be used as a last resort.

There are two bits in the program that are stopping my tomtom from resetting using my drive(tomtom) in my laptop to reset I have to remove them so I can rest my tomtom. Using my drive that is on my laptop

There are three MyDrive programs, two on the PC
MyDrive Connect, to connect your GO Essential to the Internet via WiFi or USB cable. (We will get to that after you replied.)
MyDrive Route Planner for syncing routes to destinations made on it. (We will leave that for now.)
Also MyDriveApp to be installed on your phone, similar to Route Planer ++ (later again).

Resetting your Essential has nothing to do with your laptop. Power down your laptop and follow what I wrote at: Your statement 2:
Without powering up your laptop see if you can plan a route to a destination. Use something nearby where you know the area to confirm that the device works properly.

When you report back as to how it went please try to be precise. With terminology like "two bits" I will not be able to help you at all.
