Every time I plug my TT one into my Mac I get the the same err "the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" Initialize ignore eject. any ideas? it does not show up on the desktop and I can not get it to mount.

Don't let it reinitialize

What One do you have? Does it have an SD card, or is it a 3rd Edition with internal memory? Have you ever linked it with another machine, say a PC? I have a Mac running 10.5.1 and my One 3rd Ed mounts without problem, so I can say it's not a platform issue. If you let it reinitialize, it will delete everything on the card and you will have to re-purchase the maps and figure out how to get the OS and everything back on.

If your TT has a card I'd suspect this as being the problem, when you quit or disconnect your card incorrectly this is the kind of error you can get. Have you used a card reader with it? Maybe put it back in a try to dismount correctly then try connecting your TT to your Mac.

it has an internal card. I have not used it on any other computers? I am at a loss.

Are you perhaps using an older mac? I have a PowerBook G4 with MacOSX 10.3.9 and that's what happens when I plug my 920T into it. However it works fine when I plug it into my Dual G5 running MacOSX 10.4.7. I haven't spent any time trying to fix this since I don't need to use my TomTom with that older computer. But I assume that MacOSX 10.3.9 can't read a PC disk formatted the way the TomTom has been.

What version of MacOSX are you running?

thats the funny part I have a newer mac running 10.4.11 and it will not mount and an older mac that is for the kids now and it is running 10.3.5 and it will mount.

Try this: Open up your disk utility on the Mac, select the primary drive (likely named "Macintosh HD") and run repair disk permissions. Then reboot the Mac. Once you have the desktop up again, restart disk utility and then plug in the TomTom. See if it appears in the left-hand column of disk utility, and what it reads as. If it still throws up the error message, or disk utility asks to reinitialize, eject it untouched.

Should that not work, you might need to do an archive and install of 10.4.11. This is a drastic step, and I would only do that as a last resort.

It sounds as though you have a corrupt plst file that drives reading of network volumes. Do you have any issues with the machine other than with the TomTom?
