A few weeks ago I stopped getting live traffic (causing me to hit delays I usually avoid!) and there was a couple of times a message on start up about the SIM with a QR code to scan (but it was always when I was in rush so I clicked 'remind later'!)
There's nothing about SIM end of life or the end of 'Always Connected' on the Tom Tom site & support haven't replied in their 48 hour window.
Bluetooth connecting my phone doesn't work either - it only works whilst in range of my home wi-fi.
I not no new Tom Tom have 'Always Connected' and require to hotspot your phone - does this mean I need to use my phone as a hotspot or just get a new sat nav?

The end of 2G has been announced; SIM cards are deactivated even if 2G still works in your country.

The best solution is to use your phone's Wi-Fi hotspot.

It's much more efficient.

Thanks, I bet that's what the update message was saying, I'll try hotspotting next journey

And for what it's worth, I'd recommend using WiFi and not Bluetooth.

I just brought brand new classic TomTom devic e with 3 months speed camera included. I had very worst experience. It can’t even show brimingham city centre road speed limit & wrong speed camera limit . I just missed a disaster .

You should not rely solely on what is displayed on a GPS screen; you should also look at the road signs along the roadside.
