TomTom Model(s)
GOClassic 2nd gen
Hi all.

New to TOMTOMs and to mobile tethering. Have new TOMTOM GO Classic sat nav and am trying to set up live traffic. My Samsung A15 Android phone is set for Bluetooth tethering and set for mobile hot spot. Satnav and phone are linked by Bluetooth happily. Satnav has lifetime traffic. I either get a car symbol with x over it on top section of sidebar, or no car at all. Phone is connected to Internet by mobile data. WiFi off.

Do I need specific software on my Android phone?

Is there a step I've missed? Downloaded full manual but not helping much.

Any guidance/assistance would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Hello,
In Settings, have you enabled the option to send information to TomTom?

Instead of using a Bluetooth connection, use your phone's Wi-Fi hotspot. This works much better.

Thanks. I'm set up for syncing to TomTom account. If not what you meant, which category is it under.

Have 3 month trial of speedcameras but just passed one without a warning. Do you know about that? May do separate thread.

First thing to do:
Settings.
Select System.
Select Your Information and Privacy.
Select the button to enable sending information.

Thanks were all already ticked. Seems to be sorted today. Trials were in a car with its own WiFi which I wasn't using but seems to mess up Internet access via phone. In another car works fine for traffic and cameras. Many thanks for your assistance!

This is the biggest riped off from TomTom. I had life time traffic on my 5000,but miraculously it's disappeared. I'm still alive,my life time is still here.
I have trouble with tethering with my exclusive go. Never buy from this firm again, and I would advise everybody else not to.
Life time must mean different in the Netherlands.

Hi Mac. I'm too new to it all to sensibly comment but am sure others here can usefully input. Hope they can help you.

Why a scam? TomTom isn't responsible if phone companies disable 2G.

For your exclusive Go, using a WiFi hotspot on your phone at all times should work too.

I've got a 5G phone and supposed to have 90% coverage.
My main point is life time, means life time and I'm still alive.

I am getting a little tired of people stating lifetime means their lifetime. Lifetime mens support of the product/model. Surely a little commonsense would reason that how can a product guarantee traffic for say fifty years? Cone on! It is there somewhere in the small print. And no I sm nit happy eith TomTom either but let's be sensible on this term 'lifetine' please.

SIM cards have never been lifetime.
When TomTom says lifetime, it means the lifetime of a GPS, not your lifetime.
