Improved POI?

I've been considering purchasing a 920 (possibly 930) for a while now but one feature that is keeping me from doing so is something related to POI searching. While this may seem small to some, it is something in my travels that I use a good bit; hence the reason for the delay of a purchase. The feature that I use with my old Garmin 340 is the ability to search for grocery stores. Being that I travel to locations where there are grocery stores by name that I may not be familiar with, I want the ability to simply search for all grocery stores in either the location that I'm currently in or on my route. My garmin does that, but what I understand is that TomTom's do not do this. Has this feature been added or is this still missing? Please help me out with some info on this because I'd really like to pull the trigger but really don't want a GPS that lacks this feature. Thanks in advance! :)

You can do this: Navigate to-->poi-->(select a city)-->any category--> and type part of a grocery store name such as 'dixie'. It'll bring up all items with that letter combination including 'Winn Dixie's' in the city.

You can also change (select a city) to 'near you' or 'on route'.

While Garmin has subcategories in their POI listings, giving you the ability to further narrow down your search, TomTom does not. I know with Garmin I was able to search for Restaurant/Pizza, Restaurant/Chinese, Restaurant/Fast Food, etc. With TomTom, you can only search for "Restaurant".

So if you're familiar with Shop Rite, A&P, Wegman's from your home area, but the area you're in only has Shop-N-Bag & Stop-N-Shop, and you're not familiar with these names, then you're screwed, unless you happen to see one as you drive past, and realize what type of store it really is.

It may be possible to add POI listings of grocery stores to your TomTom, but there's no way to have them appear as a subcategory of another category.

Thanks for the info although I was afraid that was going to be the case. Having subcatogories in the POI search is important for me, enough to keep going with my Garmin. I would think that this wouldn't be a terribly difficult thing for TomTom to add in an effort to improve their product. Oh well... until they do, no TomTom for me. :(
