Here's how I did mine

Here's how I installed my Tomtom One V3 in my FJ Cruiser, everything is done except for hiding the wiring.

First I cut the bracket that came with the unit right in front of the suction cup part. Next I took the plastic cover off that covers the rearview mirror mounting screws, and drilled a 5/8" hole in it. I put the bracket into the hole and sprayed glue on the back of it, that's the white stuff.

THe other nice thing is because of where it's at you really can't see it from the outside

very nice and clean install!
Best part is u can still tilt the unit and it can't be seen from the outside.

I really like the way you mod'd this unit, is there any difficulty in having to look over and up to see it?

That would be my concern too.

If you are still in a DIY mood, it shouldn't be too much trouble to hardwire the unit and bring the power cord up the a-pillar and along the windshield's upper edge to the rear-view mirror. At that point you could practically leave it in the car all the time.

Oh, and are FJ Cruisers as nice to own as they look? I really like those things.

That's what I'm doing with the wires, this weekend, you should only be able to see where it plugs into the bottom of the unit. I have no problem using it while driving, and suprisingly it's not hard to operate while driving unless maybe your typing in a street address. As for the FJ I love it. I didn't at first until my wife talked me into test driving one, and after that I was hooked. She drove it for the 1st year until the new scion xb's came out then she got her new car and I got the cruiser.

Thanks for all the nice compliments too, I appreciate it!

Ok, I finished up the wiring and tucked it under the headliner and down the pillar
