First TomTom Refurb go730 & updates

Well I was a little worried about recieving this after reading about people not being able to update theirs etc.

I am very pleased to say that EVERYTHING went without a hitch. Only trouble I had was having the cradle get recognized, but it was my fault (was using a USB 1 port not a 2.0)

After that plugged it in, it downloaded the latest updates, including the 8.25 map and a bunch of other stuff.

Everything updated perfectly.

Now I just have to learn how to use the dam thing...lol

Welcome to TTF!

The first thing to do is to make an Explorer, not Home, back up of your unit's contents. Ensure hidden files/folders are showing.

Also an important thing to remember. Always disconnect your unit PROPERLY from the computer when you are through doing whatever you are doing. In Home, menu item Device-->Disconnect device and wait till you see the ok signal.

I see more issues here caused by incorrectly disconnecting than just about anything else.
