I have a TomTom 930 and a new 2009 Mazda6, and the car radio freezes when the TomTom is too close to the radio. I bought a clip to mount the GPS on the A/C vents that are just over the radio, and apparently being too close to it makes the radio malfunction.
These are the strange things that the radio does:
- It does not allow me to turn the volumen up or down
- I can?t change the mode from radio to cd or to aux
- Even sometimes I simple can?t turn it on.
I have tried the TomTom with the following configurations:
- Connected to the power supply and on its own battery
- With the FM output on, its own speaker, or with aux cable
I have contacted TomTom support and they say that it has nothing to do with the device as it seams to be working perfectly ? and that there should be a problem with a ground connection on the car?s radio.
Surprisingly, when I contacted Mazda their explanation was just the opposite, the radio is working except when the TomTom is close, so it must be a problem with the device, and it might probably be that the FM transmitter is on.
I would really appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this problem, as the only solution I have been given is to mount the TomTom as far as possible from the radio?
Thanks!
