Map purchase says that my XL live has it installed - is there an easy way to find out if this is the case or do I have to wait until I am there?

No. Go to Manage Maps-->switch maps on your device and see if it is listed.

Thanks dhn - the options are there! Never had to do this before so finding my way round can be tricky. I did not want to leave it until I arrived and then called for help.
