550 Screen response

I have had this unit for several years and the problem seems to be getting worse. I press an option on the screen and I can see the color change indicating it knows I have pushed the screen but the desired response does not happen. If I touch it several more times it finally responds. I have adjusted the sensitivity even though I can see it knows I have made a selection. Is this fixable or just a trait of the unit?
 
In main menu settings, select touch sensitivity, try all 3

No. I hate the thought of that. If that would help I will. As stated I have tried the sensitivity settings.
 
Either you try to Reset the device to factory values to not lose anything (address, route) connect your device to your Mydrive account.

Be it send it to Tomtom for repair.
 
I broke down and did a reset but I guess I'll have to wait till the next ride to see if it did anything as it happens intermittently.
