Where to get maps?

Can someone tell me where to download/obtain maps for my Tom Tom? I have heard people mention "free" maps here on the forum; is there really a source to obtain free maps from? Thank you in advance.
 
TT had a promotion where they would send you a DVD containing the 6.65 maps for "free", all though you had to pay $6 for shipping. This promotion has now ended.

There is no way you can get free maps. Normally, you can buy maps from the TT site but it looks like it is down right now. The other way is purchasing them through HOME.
