TT One LE memory problem

Just bought the LE version from Best Buy
TomTom One LE
For some reason its suppose to have 1 gig memory internal
Without a memory card installed it shows under installed items
tomtom app 10 mb
Guam map 0.6 mb
Voices 13
color scheme tiny
quick gpfix tin
phone settings 1- 0.4 mb
satellite imagery 1-2.6 mb
total 979.6 mb with 395.8 free
I cannot load the us / canada map without useing a sd card since the map is over 800 mb
lost a bunch of memory somewhere
any advice?

The US/Canada map should already be loaded on there. You don't need to install anything unless you are installing an additional US/Canada map.

if you upgraded to v7.161 like i did. this is what i did to get it to work.
In tomtomhome
make a full backup first
then check in items on my tomtom to see what maps are installed. if the us & canada one is there then use copy to my computer to copy that file to your computer.
now delete every in the us & canada folder on the tomtom drive via window explorer.
restart your tomtom & connect back to the computer.
in tomtomhome go to items on my computer to see if you have us & canada under to map section. you should have v7.05. if so install to your tomtom.
once done disconnect from computer & turn off tomtom
Now use a paperclip to press the reset button on the bottom & press down to power button & hold it down until the unit powers up. about 10-15 seconds.
At this point mine was working fine & i where back on tomtomhome and installed v7.10 & all the rest of the updates

That may be the problem, back up
Before I did anything I tried to download the newest US map
I didnt save or back up original map from TT onto PC that was pre installed
What I have is this
Without memory card of 1 G installed under show TomTom contents installed I have the following
TomTom app 1 @ 10 mb
Guam Map @ 0.6mb
Voices -13 @ 9.3 mb
Colour schemes- 1 @ tiny
quickgps fix data @ tiny
phone settings -1 @ 0.4mb
satellite imigary - 1 @ 2.6mb
total capacity 979.6
free space 395.8
Tis is without any us / canada map installed
Somewhere I have 583.8mb missing
Like I have the original pre- installed map installed but it doesnt show it.

With memory card of 1G under show contents
tomtom app @10mb
Maps-1 Us /canada 858.2mb ( latest d/l loaded version) version 710
Voices-9 @ 6mb
phone settings-1 @ 0.4mb
total capacity 950.4mb
free- 51.4 mb

Some where out of all this mess without a memory card installed I lost 583.8 mb from factory original without any us map although it seems that mb size would be the map size.Is this all due to not doing an origal preset up back up? and d/l a updated map

Easy.
(you will not be able to load 7.05 back on still you do not have a backup of it. unless you call tomtom to get it. I would stick with v7.10)
With memory card in. go to the section in TomTomHome for download to my computer & click on the US map "Maps-1 Us /canada 858.2mb ( latest d/l loaded version) version 710"
download this to your computer.
when done turn off unit & remove card.
Turn back on. now go to your tomtom drive in windows explorer. delete everything under the Usa & Canada directory but leave to folder. ( this should only be 10 mb as per your last post.
Now go to tomtomhome > whats on my computer section & install the new map.
