Is it possible to load a custom car icon onto a TT 2535?

Yes.

Connect to the computer. Click on the desktop's MyTomTom icon. Select 'Add community Content'. In the screen that opens, scroll to the 'Community car symbols on device'. Click on the 'Add car symbol' button. Select the icon file on your computer.

It will be installed on the device.
