I live in Canada.

Every time I have to identify what country I live in, your site defaults to French with no option to switch to English.

I have some news for you...

By far the majority of people living in Canada speak English and French is confined to just a few locals.

This is very insulting and it has been going on for several years and I am getting fed up with it. Under a different user account, I have complained about this before. It seems you folk just want to insult the majority of Canadians.

Well, my XXL 540 is coming up for retirement and, with the complete disregard for English speaking Canadians, I may switch brands.

You still have an opportunity for a short while to keep me as a customer.

OH, and by the way, the email you sent me with an offer to upgrade my unit links to a US site that does not ship to Canada.

Really, tell me why I should remain a loyal customer?

Allan

Allan, this site is NOT the official Tomtom site (and says so in the banner at the top of the screen "unofficial support forums".

That said, we Canadians here agree with your sentiments about the official Canada site defaulting to French. You can complain to Support about it but not sure anything will be done:

Yes, sorry, but I did start off in support and ended up here.

Anyway, if the powers to be at Tomtom read this and other forums, they should get the gist of the message.

The powers to be might have looked in here unofficially 6 - 8 years ago but they have their own Public Forum for years.
As there is absolutely no connection between this Peer-to-Peer Forum and the company TomTom it is highly unlikely that you ended up here starting off in their support sites.

That said I agree with you and find it unconscionable to click on one of their web pages, being told that we are from Canada, clicking on a 'Shop in: Canada' and end up on a French only site with no obvious visible link to switch to English. I have told the company in no uncertain terms what I think about their callous treatment of 80% of we Canadians.

dhn had pointed out that at the very bottom of the page one can click the Canadian flag, the word Canada or the ^ up arrow and one gets tot he top of the page where it says in French Anglais (États-Unis). Click it and the page now is in English.

The reason for this elaborate reply is that I am pissed off over this (pardon my French, yeah, right!).

Now if you run in this situation again there is a very fast way to change it look at the URL on top, https://www.tomtom.com/fr_ca/ change the 'fr' to 'en' and Bob's your uncle.
