TomTom XXL540 Map Updates

When I log into TT Home it is offering me 2 different options for map updates.

Option 1 - Upgrade to the Latest Map (original map discounted by + or - 50%).

Option 2 - Australia - 1 year map update service.

Do I have to accept option 1 to make option 2 work or can I just select option 2 alone which is what I want?

In order to take advantage of the map update service, the user has to first pay an amount to get to the current map and THEN another amount for four additional maps.

So, to take option 2, you need to be at the current (8.75) level first.

The older your existing map is, the more you pay to get to 8.75.

Option 1 basically is a one-shot deal to get to 8.75 but no future updates.
