ok...
Today, I was driving on I-95 in NJ...
From northern Jersey back to Princeton (central-southern).
Using the fastest route approach, it kept asking me to get off the highway
and then about 5 miles later, asked me to get back on it!
I didn't want to get off the highway, for following reasons.
1. I know the road
2. It was toll-highway... didn't want to pay more

Is there a program that can recognize that in the routing plan that if same
road is being asked to be taken later, just omit all the small roads in between?
So for example...
If you plan a route, and then if you go to browse-as-text, if you see the
same road coming on the later step, just omit all the steps in between?

ps I didn't know where to post this, so I am posting it here. Please move it

this is a good place to leave your post i think....
you need to select nav via when you get to the point you think it wants to turn you off...

I think what you mean is like how tomtom will say

2.4 I-5 Stay Left
2.4 I-5 Keep left, then stay Right.
2.2 I-5 Stay Left
2.4 I-5 Stay Left
2.4 I-5 Keep left, then stay Right.
2.2 I-5 Stay Left

You want it to just say

15.00 I-5

????????

I want that too!!

well, that would be good too!
But I have more serious problem than that.
it is more like this.

3.0 miles I-95 South
Exit #12 to Elizabeth
Left on US 1 US 9
.
.
.
5 miles later
Take Right on to I-95 south...

bah...

I believe your issues is as follows:
TT tells you take cars only by default...you are probably taking the car/truck/bus lanes...TT is trying to correct your "mistake" by having you get off and re-entr the cars only lane...

Unfortunately the only way around is is to do what battom said and Avoid the undesired part of the route, which is I95 Cars Only - TT will recalculate your route w/ I95 Car/Truck/Bus...

Annoying isn't it...

ps I commute from Exit 9 to 14C and back everyday - I feel your pain.

A similar situation happen to my trip to Big Bear Mountain.
My 910 told me to get off the main highway and drive through a small town and get back on.
My cousins were laughing at me.
I told them I did it on purpose, just in case there was in need of a bathroom break. :D

so we have to manually correct this problem each time?
Can someone who is good with programming come up with the filter
program like I suggested above?
Or it cannot be done, due to messing with the navigation?

You can make an Itinary with some Waypoints stragically located to force TomTom to follow your route. Save it & give a name. Before navigation load that Itinary, add the Destination and Go.
