Good Afternoon Group:

It's been a while since I have been here. I need a helping hand... what I would like to do is to take a query i.e.: "Architect" input a location by zip (by miles) and have a comma delimited list complete with:

  • Business name
  • Address
  • Phone
  • Latitude
  • Longitude

From there it would be a simple matter to convert over to a recognizable TomTom formatted .ov2 file.

Once upon a time I created such files... however I can't remember how or which software I employed.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you have already created the comma delimited list, then you can save it as a .csv format file, then use utilities such as POIEdit to convert from that to .ov2

You can download POIEdit from here:
http://www.poiedit.com/downloads.htm

You may need to fiddle a bit to get the columns in the right order in the original file. Easiest way to check is to take an existing .ov2 file and save it back out as .csv, then examine it in Excel or whatever.

But..... if you are trying to automatically create a .csv for a certain type of business JUST by entering a zipcode, then that's a different matter entirely. Where is the data going to be collected from?
I do remember one website which attempted to do something along those lines, but it didn't last long.

Finally, this might be a useful tool for you:
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocoder/
It claims to convert address lists to coordinates.
