I find that after hooking up to TomTom, the light sensor often fails to work. But I have figured out a reset procedure:
1. Hard Reset the TomTom (pressing the button on the bottom).
2. Let the TomTom restart BEFORE placing it on windshield mount cradle.
3. Go into prefs and select the day mode (with option to dim at night)
4. Then place back on windshield mount.
Hopefully TomTom fixes this bug.
