How to assign an icon to a POI

There's a new Shell gas station that's missing from the POI i my area.

When I add it via mapshare, it shows the default gas station icon. Is there a way to assign the shell icon (that all other shell stations have by default) to the custom POI?

You have to add/dl a new poi-group named "Shell" to add a Shell icon. You cannot add icons or poi's to TT poi-groups.
Editing poi-groups is easily done with "POI-edit"

It may work the way Andy_P discribes. But it is a rather complicated proces.
And still no possibility to add Shell icons to the Poi.dat

I haven't figured out a way to assign the POI to the proper icon from the Brand folder.

See post 3 of this link. I think you would substitute the 'Shell' icon where you see reference to 'applebee' but I've never tried it myself.

Both links looks like they require a new group to assign an icon. I'd still like the gas station to be in the "gas station" but use the shell icon. I don't think these links accomplish this.

No big deal. I just use "shell" in the name of the POI. Then search POI by name. I have a shell mastercard so I like going to shells because of the 5% off.

I use also the Shell gas stations; so I downloaded a poigroup of "Shell" (with a shell icon). I'm sure this is also available for your area.
