Hello everyone; long time GPS user.
I had one of the first if not the first generation of Garmin GPS units when they first became avaible to the public...was a Street Pilot I @1998 and then a Street Pilot 2610 I believe circa 2002/2003 . This bad boy was big and had a big bean bag style dash mount...I recently got rid of it when I moved...probably a collectable now Wish I had kept it.
It originally sold at Bestbuy? for $1,000
Was finally able to get rid of my paper street/road atlas. Got so much use out of my first Garmin Street Pilot I/2610....lots of fond memorys on the road with it.
I remember traveling from Fort Worth Tx to Pittsburgh PA planning my route with nothing but a paper street/road atlas and some paper to write directions on @ 1998- @ 1994...you could drive east for 12 hours and still be in Texas. I was in the miltary at that time and stationed @ Carswell AFB in Fort Worth Texas.
I would drive through Texas on 30E towards Texarkana, Texas which was on the boarder of Texas and Arkansas. I would be looking forward to Texarkana because that meant I'm close to gettting out of Texas. Texas>>>Arkansas>> tennessee>>>Kentucky>>>>Ohio>>>Pennsylvania @1,200+ miles
