I have 2 units (2535/2505). A month ago, the newer one [2535] stopped receiving traffic. I have *3* RDS-TMC cables. I tried all of them, and I cleaned the connectors (eraser) but to no avail.

My older unit [2505] does receive traffic, using any of my 3 cables. So the issue is not the cable per se. When starting up, the 2535 recognizes the cable - I get the "RDS-TMC connected" popup.

As the 2505's map is now several years old, I'd like to figure out what's wrong with the 2535 unit, to use its much newer map.

Prior to the failure, I didn't change any of settings. (It's set to automatically tune - how would anyone find out what FM frequency is used in your driving area anyway?)

Has anyone had their unit stop receiving traffic for a period of time ... and figured out how to fix that?

It's clearly not the cable. Tnx.

There's always the "reset" option. No guarantees it will resolve anything, but it's easy and certainly worth a try:

Hold the power button down until you hear the TomTom drums, then immediately release the button.

Worst case, you can perform a "factory reset". You may lose some personal content, however.
If you wish to reset all features and settings on your device, returning them to their factory defaults, or are asked to do so as a troubleshooting step for a device that is misbehaving, this video outlines the correct procedure:

Thought of that, but I don't want to lose all of my favs and POIs

The first procedure - cold boot - won't delete anything. Start there.

No go. (I didn't think it would be a problem with settings, as I hadn't changed any prior to the failure.)

Any other ideas? Has anyone experienced this problem?

And if I choose factory reset: will I lose the installed map? Even without traffic, I don't want to lose a map, which cannot be restored.

No, the map will not be deleted, it is only your route and your favorites that you will lose.

For your information, RDS-TMC provides traffic information via radio stations which broadcast traffic information.

if there is no radio broadcasting traffic information, no information.

Except in the same area, his 2505 receives RDS traffic, and his 2535 does not.

Thank you all. As a helpful note for anyone else reading this thread: full factory reset fixed the issue. (The soft/cold reset may have also, but I didn't realize it might take 15-20 mins to relocate the broadcast frequency; I may not have waited long enough.)

And as FYI, your POIs are retained even with factory reset. Just the fav's are wiped out, as stated.
