Hi all instaled latest map on my xl iq routes when I input destanation by post code it only reconises the first four digits not six is there a problem with the software help please

Did you also receive a new postcode file for your map?

Look in the root of your device for a folder called "zip".
Within that, you should find May files called Great_Britain.postal, Great_Britain.tlv, and Great_BritainPostal.ver.

In fact, if you open Great_BritainPostal.ver, it should show map version 910 (I assume it's 910 that you just installed on your XL).

If not, let us know.

Speaking of which -- does anyone know why the new map 910 post codes aren't available at the expected link ( http://www.tomtom.com/updates/zipcodes/Map_910/zip.zip ) and what the correct link might be? We may need them for this user.

sorry thats double dutch to me i understand how to unzip something to my computer how do i find the root file zip ive tried interogating via tom tom home and cant see that folder or is there a way to mount the tom tom as a disc drive ?

sorry just realised i can see the contents of tom tom by using computer but cant find a zip folder

Your unit should have a folder in the root directory called just "zip". That is where both the UK and NL postcode files reside (or should, at any rate). If not, it will be created when you unpack the "zip.zip" folder into your root. Then, inside the "zip" folder that is created, you should have files for GB, NB and Singapore. Normally, you only get the ones associated with whatever map(s) you have, so you can delete any of those 3 sets that make no sense on your unit.

For any confusion about what we mean by "root" or "root directory", see here:
Folders & Files and What Is This 'Root Directory' I Keep Hearing About? :)

Now, here are the latest V910 postcode download links:
http://download.tomtom.com/open/zipcode/910/great_britain.cab
http://download.tomtom.com/open/zipcode/910/nederland.cab
http://download.tomtom.com/open/zipcode/910/singapore.cab

Note they have changed the download format (they are now archived as .cab not .zip) so it is easiest to use a utility such as WinRar to extract the files (Windows itself can do the extracting, but only one file at a time)

If you only need the UK postcodes, you only need to install the UK files, just ignore the Nederlands and Singapore ones.

Once you have the two files Great_Britain.postal and Great_BritainPostal.ver extracted, they need to be put in a folder called "zip".
That folder (with the files inside) then needs to be copied onto the TomTom so the folder sits at the same level as all the others (i.e. don't put it inside any other folder). You can do that with Windows Explorer.

Ah, thanks for the explanation, Andy. Couldn't figure out why the *.zip link refused to work after all this time. Actually, making them *.cab files keeps it more consistent with everything else.
