TomTom Model(s)
Rider 400
I have a TomTom Rider400 which I purchased in 2015 for a trip to Germany. In last year it has developed an issue. When I plug it into my PC it would not connect Eventually it connected but then failed again. I purchased a new TomTom cable and that worked for about a week then fail. I toiok cable back and they confirmed ok but gave me another cable. This cable also failing. Say unknow / unrecognised USB.

I done complete reset etc to no avail

Quite frustrating. I suspect the port on back of the rider unit is faulty as we were using it in car for couple of years after the car one was stolen and may have damaged the port over time.

So i tried to log a repair with tomtom and they are asking for receipt which I don't have and cant find it in my email..

Looking for suggestions. Should I try to get the unit port repaired? Is it easy to repair myself?

the unit is fine apart from that and works fine mounted on my motorbike. Just i cant connect to PC so cant download maps from my route etc. I dont now any other way apart from connecting it to PC.

Appreciate any help.

Have you tried connecting your GPS to another computer?

If your GPS is no longer under warranty you do not need an invoice or receipt to have your rider 400 repaired by Tomtom the repair costs 105 €

Make Tomtom understand that your GPS is no longer under warranty that you are requesting an out-of-warranty repair

Yep I tried different computer and same results. ok good that i dont require a receipt then Let me log a support # again and see if i can get help.

Do you think it would be worth the €105 to get repaired or to look to get a newer one.
