Newbie with XXL TM, Traffic work right out of the box?

I have a new TM model I just recieved and I have no time
to hook it up and set any thing up on a pc.
Leaving on vacation later today.
Need to know if the Traffic part works right out of the
box. I am in an area with out traffic coverage, so I can not
test. Will be traveling into multiple areas with trafic
(one of the reasons I purchased this model)

It should. When you connect the combo car charger/rds-tmc antenna, the unit will say on the top of the screen that the antenna has been connected. You should then see a vertical bar on the right side of the screen and the rotating symbol while it attempts to capture the traffic signal.
