First of all, let me say hi to all. I`m VERY new to this site and TomTom. I recently purchased a TT XLS, from the reading I`ve done, I understand that the TT device does NOT work in conjunction with, but rather seperatly when a Sd card is inserted in the slot.
Here`s my question, I do pilot/escort service for oversize loads in the lower 48 states. The routes taken from point A to point B are normally not the fastest, nor the shortest. These are always permit loads with the route decided by the states your traveling thru. I`ve done a little reading on "trace your routes everywhere" or TYRE, seems like it`s what I`m looking to do, so if I`ve got the right info, what I need to do is to download the contents of my TT to a SD card, then, using the TYRE software, on my computer, plan my route, transfer it to my sd card. then my sd card is inserted in the tt that route will appear ??? I`ve read that the TT internal memory will probably be large enough to support these changes, but there are probably half dozen or so different routes, I`d like to keep them seperate, for instance route A route B and so on.
Am I making any sense at all, or just rambling ???

+ AFAIK, all version of ONE will work with either external SD card OR (not AND like GO version) internal memory. So, yes, if you don't want to use the internal space, and decide to use only on SD, you have to move EVERYTHING to SD.
+ About .itn and TYRE. This is the independent process, you can install and start plotting in TYRE anytime you want. Generating as many .itn files as you want, save them on your local PC then transfer to your GPS unit later.
+ As I said many many times, Tomtom just load those waypoints that created in the Tyre's ITN file, NOT the route that Tyre has plotted. To make sure TT has the same route as Tyre, add more waypoints to force TT perform what you intend to.
+ The .itn file is very very small compare to your internal memory, so you shouldn't worry too much.
