I'm new to GPS and I've worked out the most obvious uses for my 720. However, I have a simple problem and can't see an obvious answer. Can I use the device to record the distance of a non programmed route? And can I keep a record of my route?

I do a bit of walking and I'd like to be able to measure how far I have travelled by the time I arrive back at the start point. I could create an Itinerary, but I don't always know in advance where I am going, and may make diversions.

I use a pedometer, but it's not very accurate, and a more hi tech method would be a benefit.

I think some people have had luck installing Tripmaster on their Navcore 7 units....if you did this it would keep track of your trip distance and it could also keeps logs of you trip for you to download and overlay on a map
