Is tomtom's input method so stupid?

when i am trying to find an address, I have to input the exact street name with the prefix. eg. if I want to find '1000 Ave Lincoln', first I have to type 'Ave Lincoln' instead of just 'Lincoln'. But it is hardly to know a street which is not fimiliar is Ave, Dr, Boul, or Cres etc. Is there any third party software to solve this problem?

I don't know what you are talking about.
I just search for Av Lincoln in Montreal, after typing 'Linc' , TomTom pops the suggestion "Av Lincoln". Yep, I did this while reading your post.
