Comparing TomTom One XL to Garmin Nuvi 650?

Hi folks,

Newbie poster here. I'm also a GPS newbie, having seen one in action only once.

I'm thinking about buying a GPS unit for my wife. She would want something simple, easy to use, easy to read, with useful POIs. She is not a technofile, but I could add POIs to it, etc.

I've heard great things about the Garmin Nuvi 650, but the TomTom One XL looks pretty compelling. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of each unit?

I'm most concerned about accuracy, readability, and ease of use.

Hello and welcome. I've played with the Garmin units about a year ago. For me I didn't think they were easy to use, well compare to TomTom's units.

I think you should go to a store who has display models and check them out. That is what I did and was sold on my 910.

For the price and the features, you can't beat the ONE. That's why comsumer reports rated it a best buy
