910 V7 Brightness

As well as the problems with handsfree that others have reported, I'm having weird problems with auto dim and auto night colors since the V7 upgrade.

This morning the unit would not switch to day colors and day brightness. I rechecked all the settings and eventually it came up with day colors but still night brightness (i.e. dim). I cant get the unit to stay bright even if I disable the auto dim feature. The unit is bright in the menu's but always dims when it goes back to the map.

There are two different places where the autodim feature can be activated. One is under the brightness settings. The other is under dock settings. I found that I was having this problem and it turned out that the autodim was not set in my dock settings area.

Sometimes it helps to pull the unit off the dock and then remount it. Yeah, it's still a bug, but that's a bit easier than rebooting the unit.

Try running the flash tool and see if it helps.

Ran the flash tool but no difference. It really sucks, I can change day/night colors with the menu option but no way to change the brightness.

It's very weird In the morning it will be on night colors. If I select day colors then say "yes" to "switch to night colors when dark" it stays on night colors as if the 910 thinks it's dark.

However if I say "no" it changes to day colors. Then I can change the preferences to "use night colours when dark" it stays on day colours as if the 910 knows it is daylight. Still doesn't chage to night colours when it gets dark.

Sorry now I understand your issue.
This can be solved easily.
Just connect your TomTom to HOME and use virtual TomTom.
Make sure the unit is on day mode. If it is on day mode then switch to night mode then back to day mode. remove the unit from the computer and it should fix it. Always leave virtual TomTom on day mode.

Don't works on a Mac...

Hi,
I've the same problem...but I'm using a mac (Powerbook g4, OSX 10.4.11), and the virtual TomTom doesn't work. (but works with Virtual PC on the same Mac...so it cannot be a USB port issue)
My GO910 has version 7.162
Any other idea? Is there a preference to delete? could it be a hardware problem? I've got this problem just from the first time I've bought the 910, and only the app version 7.161 seemed to be ok, but I've used this version only for a couple of days..
Many thx, and happy new year!

For Mac users, I suggest to disable the preference and do a pin reset. Re-enable the preference. Always use the 910 on the mount. Usually, not using the mount will mess the preference up.
