I just got the message that my device is old and will no longer be supported. But there was a note that devices with Life Time Maps would not be affected. I did find out that I was able to update my maps but other things could not be changed. Does anyone know how long the Life Time map updates will continue to be available?

Who knows with Tomtom? That said, perhaps a few more years, maybe? But no guarantees.......

I am surprised that your XXL550 was offered a map update. It is only a 2GB unit and has no uSD card slot. Other 2GB units have gone EOL due to lack of space for the current level of maps which have continued to grow over the years. What version of map are you running now?

I have life time maps and had now problem with the latest update. However maps is the only update available to me nothing else. I'm just curious how long they will offer this service to me since they no longer support this device.

The point canderson is making is that other 2GB devices without SD card slots are listed as having reached their End Of Life.
He/we feel that due to maps being much larger than the memory of your device, new maps can just not be installed, even if offered

To clarify, it may be (though surprising) that maps continue to be made available for your device. The only 'other thing' that is important would be new firmware for it, and there is about zero chance that any Nav2 generation device like the 550 will ever see another firmware update.

Here's what I would do if in your shoes ...

BACK UP the entire device using this procedure before doing anything else >>> https://www.tomtomforums.com/thread...-to-the-computer-and-how-to-restore-it.17864/
Make sure you can find that content on your PC before moving ahead.

Try a map backup if offered and see what happens. If you get a new map, we'll be very happy that at least one of the older 2GB models is still being supported.
If you don't get a new map downloaded, no harm, no foul.
If it does download and things don't go well, just copy your backup back to the unit and resign yourself to working with your current map level.
