Dec 14,2023 Downloaded InstallTomTomMyDriveConnect.exe from official site: VirusTotal finds a Trojan/Win32.Wacatac virus.
Any idea,support? Many thanks

I would make sure you downloaded the file from a legitimate site, if you did and are sure you did then I would say you are good to go.

If you try from the official Tomtom website there should be no problem.

I have just downloaded from here https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360013959499 and scanned the file with Norton and found the file clean

Just try again to downoad it from the address you suggest and then pass it to VirusTotal. I don't use Norton. Thanks anyway.

Does VirusTotal give false positives?

VirusTotal simply aggregates the output of different antivirus vendors and URL scanners, it does not produce any verdicts of its own. As such, if you are experiencing a false positive issue, you should notify the problem to the company producing the erroneous detection, they are the only ones that can fix the issue.

Is Trojan Wacatac a false positive?

Defenders scans are prone to Wacatac false positives because it uses a heuristic approach for its detection. Heuristic is like... it sounds like a duck, it looks like a duck, then it must be a duck. It's official definition is: proceeding to a solution by trial and error or by rules that are only loosely defined.
