Newbie.. that has decided to replace Garmin with Tom Tom XXL 540 M. Ordered it yesterday, I should have a few questions later.

Welcome to TTF.

Make sure the first thing you do is make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents. It's your safety net.

Then go for the Latest Map Guarantee. The newest (860) came out on November 17th. Once installed, make another Explorer backup.

May I ask ?

Hi what is this explorer you mention to make? and not a home. The first thing I did with my XL350tm was to put in my home information, this is my first GPS this is why I ask.
