Here's what Tomtom says about my complaints and what they need me to do to return my Go Discover.
Tomtom says they are helping customers, by not offering POIs, because in their opinon "this reduces effor to add more POIs from the customer-end".

I understand that you have purchased a new TomTom GO DIscover device and you wish to raise a return request. Please do not worry, I will assist you with the best possible solution.

I would like to inform you that TomTom Go Discover device has a new advance technology based NDS maps. It includes predefined POIs, hence, this reduces effort to add more POIs from the customer-end. In regards to the smartphone, it is required only for the Live services to retrieve realtime data. You can download the map and use them offline. I hope this answers your queries.
