TomTom Model(s)
Eclipse AVN4429
I purchased a new Western Europe map and downloaded OK but in trying to update the sat nav not only has it not done it but it has removed anything that was on there and now all I get is 'maps not found.' My local computer shop has been unable to solve it. Is my Eclipse scrap or can it be resolved?
FYI it is integral in a Hobby motorhome.

If you purchased the map through Tomtom Home, you can download it again.

Hello Willy875, yes, that is not the problem. It is that I cannot load it onto the sat nav. It won't load and it has removed what was on there so now I have a completely dead sat nav. It also acted as a reversing camera on the motorhome and that is dead too! The Tom TOm home site indicates that Eclipse is still supported but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Unless I'm mistaken, there is no reversing camera on this GPS?
that's why you can't download the map.

Normally on your computer you should have a complete backup of your GPS.

The reversing camera has worked fine for the last 10 years so I don't understand why that affects the map download. Unfortunately I do not know of a back up. I have never updated the Tom Tom until now. (and wish I hadn't)

Did Tomtom Home offer you software updates?

The backup camera has been working fine for 10 years, it's because you never updated your GPS

I'm pretty sure if you remove the camera from the GPS you will be able to download the map you purchased from Tomtom Home.

Hello, I have no idea how to do that as it is all integral. Yes I downloaded the update from Tom Tom home. It is on my laptop but since I asked my local computer experts to look at the problem it just keeps asking for disc E so I am in a bigger pickle now than I was before.
Do you know if a TNS410 unit is the same as my AVN4429? I can see there are a few of those for sale and I wonder if I can just buy a replacement ready loaded with maps?

Normally disk E corresponds to your computer.

No you cannot replace Avn 4429 with the TNS410 which is installed on Aygo/Yaris and you will have to buy a new card.

The purchased map may not be compatible with your GPS.

Question Did you purchase the card via your Tomtom Home account?

That's a GPS like that you have.

Hello, No I purchased a standard card and formatted it. Your picture is similar to mine, same principles, removable satnav, which is also the radio and the reversing camera for the van.

Hello, No I purchased a standard card and formatted it.
I just checked that eclipse2 has the possibility of being connected to a reversing camera.

Did you buy a standard card or on the Tomtom website?
Why did you format it

Normally after purchasing the map of Europe you must connect your GPS to your computer then open Tomtom Home and download your map of Europe.

If you are still having problems installing the Europe map, contact Tomtom customer service for assistance.
